1930s English Cigarette Cards Nickname Series Continued

That’s right, there’s more! We brought you the first batch of these excellent 1930s cigarette mascot cards yesterday, and now we’re back with an even larger cache. Included in today’s edition are clubs like Newcastle, Man City, Fulham, Norwich, Bolton, Blackburn, and more.

Each card is a fascinating bit of history; for example, Leicester’s illustration is the fox you would expect, though the back of the card for the club explains that they were better known as the “Filberts” during the pre-war era. Leyton Orient is here, though because the card predates the club’s move to Leyton, they were still known as “Clapton Orient.”
