“Cesc Fàbregas has the Barcelona DNA in his body and we know that he wants to play for this club.” “He is a Catalan player from our youth team and is it no secret that we love this player.” Those are quotes made by former FC Barcelona President Joan Laporta in his seemingly endless pursuit of Cesc Fabregas, then an Arsenal player. No doubt they got on the nerves of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger. Who has now made it personal.
Cesc Fabregas once described Arsene Wenger as a “second father.” So it must have hurt the Arsenal manager when Laporta and his successor Sandro Rosell succeeded in turning Fabregas’s head and bringing him to the Camp Nou.
So how did Wenger pay Laporta back? By snapping up Laporta’s own son for the Arsenal youth team.
Laporta’s son Guim, 14, recently moved to London with his mother, Laporta’s ex-wife Constanza Echevarria. Guim (short for Guillem) will train with Arsenal’s youth system at their Hale End Training Center in London, under the eye of Arsenal legend Liam Brady.
And should he pan out, prepare yourselves for another half-decade long transfer saga to hate.
