There was a time when Robbie Fowler was un-ironically known as “God,” and for good reason: in his first four years with Liverpool, the striker scored 116 goals in 188 games. Those days are long past, however. At 36, he’s a faded force, trialing with Championship sides in hope of catching on and getting some games. But still, £90 is kind of insulting.
Fowler, latterly of Liverpool, Leeds United, Manchester City, Liverpool (again), Cardiff City, Blackburn Rovers, North Queensland Fury, Perth Glory, and Muangthong United, was on trial with Championship club Blackpool, who wanted him to join Kevin Phillips (38) and Brett Ormerod (35) to create a 90s tribute band.
According to The Daily Mail, Blackpool offered him a contract worth the staggering sum of £100 per week, with a £5,000 appearance fee. Fowler declined that deal, going on twitter to clarify his situation:
Actually it was £90,but would need to play full 90 to get full appearance bonus….

£90 a week? Not that he needs it, Fowler’s property holdings are in the tens of millions, but that’s like… not even MLS money.
