The LA Galaxy opened their playoff campaign against the New York Red Bulls last weekend, and to mark the occasion, adidas decided to give David Beckham a brand new pair of boots, leather-free in deference to Beckham’s animal rights sentiments. Becks has worn adidas Predators long before Seattle invented soccer and fans and will keep wearing them until the end of time or he retires, whichever happens first.
Brand Beckham earned its own colorway from adidas and this is the newest version of the adiPower Predator DB since Becks debuted the Gold/Red colorway that he wore for the MLS season at Gary Neville’s testimonial match in May. Besides having a brand new look with the Blue/White/aptly-name-Electricity colors on the boot, Beckham’s have one key difference from what every other footballer wears in that they have a synthetic upper. Since Posh Beckham is such a strict animal rights activist, all of the boots that adidas makes for David do not use an inch of leather.
Who knows, maybe if Becks clicks those neon green heels together three times, he’ll put the ball into the upper 90 against Red Bull in the second leg of their matchup.
