It was with great annoyance this weekend that we saw an out-of-context still of Arsenal striker Robin van Persie celebrating one of his goals against Chelsea and paying tribute to the Arsenal fans being used as some sort of evidence that he’s a Nazi. Nothing could be further from the truth, and in fact it’s pretty easy to make someone look like a Nazi with some opportunistic camerawork.
Take Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny, who was photographed with a microphone giving him the appearance of a Hitler mustache, despite him being of French and Polish descent.
Or this picture of Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas.
We’re also fairly sure Kasey Keller has no connection to the Black Panther Party.
And to say Paolo Di Canio has any sympathies for Fascist movements is…
… actually, the jury’s still out on that one. But Robin van Persie isn’t a Nazi.
