Via Gilt Edge Marketing comes this snapshot of the Premier League by Twitter mentions in America. In the modern age of social media, one could argue that Twitter traffic gives a pretty good idea of team popularity on the westsyde of the Atlantic. Either that or which teams are the butt of the most jokes. That reminds me: Have Arsenal spent any money yet?
Seriously though, this thing boils down to popularity, remembering that Manchester United is brand new to Twitter. While this is an interesting representation of data grabbed fairly easily, I’d be curious to see a ranking of clubs based on number of times references, not just mentioned (which requires including the club’s Twitter handle in the tweet).
