Jolazo (n)

1 – A brilliantly lashed ball that finds the back of the net to end a scoring drought in dramatic fashion.

2 – Any goal struck by UMSNT striker Josmer Altidore.

Having failed to score for the USMNT at the World Cup last summer and subsequently hitting a bit of a tough time with goals since, Jozy Altidore has recently taking a battering in the press with a few observers are wondering if his automatic starting spot should be so automatic. Although to be fair, it’s not like the USMNT has some other striker who’s banging them in.

But Jozy had enough and answered those critics with this piledriver against Guadeloupe (surely the most frustrating victory in American soccer history), a stunning first half winner that sees the U.S. move on to the quarterfinals. Hooray!
