On Friday, July 15, Seattle’s Nike Town hosted the launch of the new Manchester United Away Kit. For the 2011/2012 campaign the shirt draws from tops worn in some of the club’s most storied victories, including the 1948 FA Cup and the 1968 European Cup.

The new shirt consists of a royal body with hoops made of navy blue and black stripes. Each hoop is made of 11 stripes to represent the players on the field.

At the launch we spoke with Rio Ferdinand, Park Ji-Sung, and captain Nemanja Vidić. Each shared their thoughts on the new away kit and the current US tour. Rio also gave us an inkling of how he’d like to run a Premier League All-Star Game.

KCKRS: How are feeling about this US tour?

Park: It is my first time to the US, for me, so far so good. I’m looking forward to the next few days.

KCKRS: Has the reaction of the fans here surprised you?

Park: Yes, it has surprised me, I think that the American people like football, but not like they baseball or American football. But, still the crowds are tremendous at the stadium. It has impressed me.

KCKRS: What’s your favorite moment as a United player so far?

Park: It’s great to play and train with world class players.

KCKRS: Are you happy with the blue kit?

Park: Yeah, it is my first time with black strap and blue. And, it is made with recycled materials, which is great.

KCKRS: Is that important to you?

Park: Yeah, it is for the environment and better for the world. It is an important thing.

KCKRS: Do you have any plans off the pitch while you are here?

Park: I want to see the cities we stop at. I will shop. But, we are training, I don’t have much time to sit around.

KCKRS: You are playing in the MLS All-Star Game. Rio has told us he thinks there should be a Premier League All-Star Game. What do you think.

Park: It would be great. I’m looking forward now, though, to play against the MLS.
