This past weekend saw the finalists for the 2011 MLS Cup decided. Houston Dynamo came into Kansas City and upset the favored Sporting KC 2-0 in the Eastern Conference Final, while the Western Conference saw Los Angeles Galaxy outspend Real Salt Lake 3 designated players to 1.

Houston lost dead-ball specialist Brad Davis to a right quadricep injury in the first half, but were still able to score from a set piece, the finish courtesy of Andre Hainault. Carlo Costly scored late on to put the game to bed. Unfortunately for Houston, the injury to Davis means they’ll likely be playing in the final without their most influential player.

In the second game, the big guns came out to play. The league’s highest paid player, David Beckham, had an assist to Mike Magee, while fellow designated players Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane also scored for LA. Salt Lake DP Alvaro Saborio had the only goal for the visitors.

The 2011 MLS Cup Final will be played on Sunday, November 20th at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California. Both teams will be attempting to claim their third MLS Cup title.
