Of all the various companies and organizations that have been featured on the front of soccer jerseys, this may be a first: Mitt Romney, the dead cert GOP nominee for President this fall, will be sponsoring National Premier Soccer League club FC New York.

An “anonymous donor” (My guess: a Super PAC with more money than it knows what to do with) has paid FC New York to emblazon the words “Romney: Believe In America” across the front of the team’s jerseys.

According to Big Apple Soccer, who broke the story:

FC New York said it recently was approached by an “independent representative who offered to pay to take the front jersey sponsor in support of Mr. Romney.”

The club did not give any name of the mystery donor.

According to FC New York, that representative said, “I love futbol, I love America, I am a proud Latino-American who believes Mitt Romney needs to be our next president.”
