If Nicklas Bendtner was in kindergarten, he’d come home with a progress report that said “Nicklas is a very confident and bright child, but he has issues playing well with others and constantly acts out for attention. Also, he eats paste.” But Nicklas Bendtner is not in kindergarten, so he does not get disapproving progress reports. He is an adult, and he gets in trouble with the police.

Less than a month after the public embarrassment of his “card declined, so demand free pizza until two young girls take pity on you” incident, and on bail for an alleged car-damaging spree with teammate Lee Cattermole, Denmark’s best ever player (apart from the possible exceptions of Dennis Rommedahl, Jon Dahl Tomasson, Brian and Michael Laudrup, Morton Olsson, Allan Simonsen, Peter Schmeichel, Henning Jensen, Lars Olsen, and Frank Arnesen) was detained for his part in an early-morning fight at a luxury hotel.

According to a police spokesman,

At 2.18am on Thursday, September 13, police received a report of a fight at the Hilton Hotel in Gateshead.

Officers attended and two men aged 23 were arrested to prevent continued breach of the peace. After investigations, both men were released without charge.

Sunderland declined to comment.
