When Nike released its Nike+ technology a few years back alongside Apple, the idea was to get people involved in exercise through metrics. Since, adidas has had their say with the launch of their very own tracking system, miCoach.
Nike’s turn. Nike once again leap frogs adidas with the unveiling of its new Nike+ for both basketball and training. While this isn’t really something directly soccer-related, it clearly foreshadows the possibilities down the line for Nike+ in soccer including the ability to monitor speed and vertical leaps.
A strong social media component will further enhance the experience, in which you’ll be able to go head-to-head against friends and others in the community. No word yet on if/when a soccer based Nike+ boot will arrive, but the basketball and training models via the Hyperdunk+ and Lunar Hyperworkout+ will hit stores June 29.
