Nike’s latest innovation in the world of boot design landed just yesterday, when the company (whose very first shoe of any kind to bear the iconic swoosh logo was a soccer shoe) introduced the CTR 360 Maestri III, a books with the needs of the pass-happy midfielder in mind. After bringing in Andres Iniesta of Barcelona, Jack Wilshere of Arsenal, and Ganso of Santos to consult on the design, Nike brought all of their technology know-how to bear on the shoe.

KCKRS got the chance to do a play test with these bright yellow boots at Nike’s headquarters in Oregon.

Innovations packed into the design include an improved pad with 3D fins of varying sizes that hug the arch and maximize contact for better ball control, a dimpled texture on the midfoot that increases friction upon contact also improving receiving touch and passing accuracy, and a plate with 360 degree stud placement, with a combination of round studs and blades to aid in the midfield maestro’s plentiful changes of direction on the pitch.
