German magazine Sneakers Magazine recently had the enviable opportunity to hit up adidas’ archives in Scheinfeld, Germany. Away from The Three Stripes’ current headquarters in Herzogenaurach, the archives are set to be moved soon enough as they’re overseen by 69 year old archivist Karl-Heinz Lang who has single handily preserved over half a century of history.

Having worked with adidas founder Adi Dassler himself, Lang has looked far and wide in a never-ending goal of finding vintage gems from the past. A real gem comes in the form of a boot worn by Germany’s Max Morlock who scored an important rallying goal in the 10th minute of the 1954 World Cup Finals after going down 2-nil to Puskas’ Hungary inside of 10 minutes. A full interview will air in Sneaker Magazine’s 12th issue which hits newsstands this week.
