Piers Morgan Insulted MLS, Becks After Olympic Omission

I used to say Piers Morgan made me slightly embarrassed to be an Arsenal fan at times, but that’s not entirely true. No, Piers Morgan’s inclusion in the category makes me embarrassed to be a member of the phylum Chordata. And once again, the owner of the LOWEST-RATED PRIME TIME SHOW EVER ON CNN EVER BECAUSE NOBODY WATCHES HIM EVER has opened his mouth to offer an opinion on our soccer league. Oh, goody.

Yesterday, Team GB manager Stuart Pearce decided to bring Ryan Giggs, Craig Bellamy, and most controversially, Micah Richards as his three overage selections for the Olympics. Richards was derided by many as unpatriotic for rejecting a place on the standby list for England’s Euro 2012 team, while Beckham, always one to give his everything for his country, is widely credited with bringing the games to London in the first place.

Beckham, although understandably disappointed, was as usual, entirely classy about the affair, saying “Naturally I am very disappointed. But there will be no bigger supporter of the team than me. Everyone knows how much playing for my country has always meant to me, so I would have been honored to have been part of this unique Team GB squad.”

Morgan, perhaps annoyed that NOBODY WATCHES HIS SHOW ANYMORE, delivered his trademark internet tough guy attack on Becks and Major League Soccer.

I’d like to see Piers Morgan take part in some MLS training sometime. Even Chad Ochocinco looked horribly outclassed when he joined in a scrimmage with Sporting KC, and he’s an actual world-class athlete, not a 47-year-old disgraced journalist.

Or we can go with Dan Loney’s suggestion. Yeah, I like that.
