No we’re not kidding. The president of Santos, Luis Alvaro de Oliveira, has apparently been sniffing Neymar’s hair products because he extended an invitation to Pelé to once again don a Santos kit and partake in the Club World Cup tournament in December.

His reasoning was that it’s not a strenuous tournament, only two games, so it shouldn’t be a problem. FIFA will be delighted to hear a participating club taking their competition so seriously. Also, if Santos win, Pele will have won three Club World Cup titles which can accompany the three World Cup titles he won with Brazil.

Might we remind him that Pelé is 70 years old and the last time he played football was in 1977 against Santos [with the New York Cosmos]?

As if people didn’t already think the CWC was bit of a joke.
