In a small alcove in Rome’s Monti district, an iconic image of Roma striker Francesco Totti graced the wall. The mural depicted Totti celebrating a 2001 goal that helped Roma win the scudetto that season, the club’s first in nearly 20 years. But the mural has been defaced, making it nearly unrecognizable, an act Roma fans call “sacrilege.”
