Someone Slipped “Timbers Soccer” Into a Broadcast for the Rival Sounders

Given the animosity between the Seattle Sounders and the Portland Timbers, it was only a matter of time until someone tried something like this. Instead of the local broadcast of May 23rd’s Seattle – Columbus game displaying something like “Sounders Soccer,” “Sounders-Crew Soccer” or “Major League Soccer Soccer,” it instead boasted the unrelated and frankly, inflammatory “Timbers Soccer.” The Timbers are not the Sounders, despite what the rest of the country thinks about the Pacific Northwest.

Watch the highlights video to see for yourself, just after kickoff.

We’re guessing someone got fired. Or at least de-flanneled.
