The 2012 European Championship this summer is the first major tournament the Republic of Ireland has qualified for since the 2002 World Cup, and the Irish’s first appearance at UEFA’s biggest showcase since 1988. So the Irish are going to celebrate in the most billiant way possible: low-cost camping.

An Irish supporters group,  You Boys in Green, has negotiated a deal with brewer Carlsberg to bring Ireland fans into the Carlsberg fan camps for the affordable price of €25 per night, with a 3 night commitment. The deal includes a supplied tent, breakfast, and most vitally, two pints of Carlsberg per day. (Based on experience with Ryanair, tent poles, utensils, and pint glasses will be available for an additional cost).

We’d love to imagine what a three-day mass gathering of Ireland fans will be like: U2 blaring from every speaker, James Joyce being read aloud to gathered audiences, freely flowing whiskey and heavily boiled food around every corner. It’ll be like a gathering of the Juggalos with different colored face paint and no meth.

Given the still-painful Thierry Henry handball incident, the last time this many people who hated the french were in Poland, they were driving Panzers.
