#thatssometro is dead. The phrase used to describe the inevitable collapse of Major League Soccer’s New York team whenever a trophy is on the line, can finally be tossed aside. Courtesy of five goals from five different Red Bulls players on Sunday in Harrison, New Jersey, the only original MLS franchise without a trophy to its name secured the regular season points title and the Supporters Shield that goes with it. Head coach Mike Petke, a longtime player with the MetroStars/Red Bulls who was surprisingly named head coach at the start of the season naturally got a little misty in his post-game speech to the gathered Red Bulls faithful. HEY, STOP WITH THE FIREWORKS ALREADY, THERE’S SOMETHING IN MY EYE.

Here be highlights. Thierry Henry, still got it.

The Red Bulls win not only secured the team’s first trophy, it knocked the Fire out of the playoffs. Petke is proud.
