The Transfer Window Opens With Non-League Sides Sniping At Each Other On Twitter

The opening of the January transfer window means that the next four weeks of your life will be overtaken by a storm of completely bullshit rumors, with a few actual and true transfers mixed in just to keep you on your toes. Big names and big clubs will dominate the headlines. But most moves won’t be of the blockbuster variety at all. They’ll be way down the pyramid, at places like non-league clubs Lincoln City and Newport County. Well maybe, if those two clubs can stop bitching at each other on Twitter for a minute and get the damn loan done.

Both sides are playing in the Conference National these days, and I guess when you’re down in the fifth tier, a bit of discretion on Twitter is the last of your concerns. Bit unprofessional from the Lincoln City account, don’t you think? Poor Jake Thompson. Will he be playing in lovely Lincolnshire or not?

So there’s that. Twitter is magic. I’m gonna guess @LincolnCity_FC is going to have a few more followers after today. People love a club Twitter account with a bit of personality. @NewportCounty, on the other hand…
