Remember Massimo Busacca, the guy who sent of Robin Van Persie for not respecting his authoritah? Well guess who’s now been named the new head of refereeing for all of FIFA. Hint: it’s not your mom!

“I have learned an enormous amount during the years I have dedicated to refereeing. I now intend to pass that knowledge on to my refereeing colleagues to ensure that refereeing continues to improve and to help it to prepare better for the future. This is something that I am very passionate about, and it is a role that I have accepted with great pride and pleasure. I would like to thank FIFA for the faith they have placed in me.”

In lieu of actual comments on this news from the Arsenal camp, here’s a reminder of what they said last season.

“It was a total joke, the sending off, because how can I hear his whistle with 95,000 people jumping up? How can I hear that, for God’s sake? Please explain me that.”

The same for Arsene Wenger…

“I think two kinds of people can be unhappy: those who love Arsenal and those who love football can be frustrated with the referee’s decisions. When he made the decision it was a very promising game, very interesting. That’s the regret.

People who have played football will never accept a decision like that. It killed a promising, fantastic football match. What for?”

Arsene also told Pep Guardiola during the post-match handshake to “congratulate the referee.”

The good news for Arsenal fans is Busacca won’t be refereeing any more games while in this position. The bad news is he’s FIFA’s head of all refereeing
