Thierry Henry Flew 5,000 Miles To Visit Fabrice Muamba

Thierry Henry may have done one or two controversial things on the football pitch (mainly the handball against Ireland), but it’s impossible to deny the Frenchman has been nothing but classy off of it. In an incident that illustrates his quality as a person, the New York Red Bull striker got on a plane and flew across a continent and an ocean to visit Fabrice Muamba in the hospital.

Henry was the star at Arsenal when Muamba came through the youth team and became a fringe member of the squad. Muamba evidently made an impression on his former captain, however. After playing in New York’s 2-0 loss at Salt Lake, Henry jetted off on a series of flights totaling over 5,000 miles to visit his former teammate, who collapsed during Bolton and Tottenham’s subsequently abandoned FA Cup tie.
