God forbid we be one of the only blogs out there to show some love to our Yankee youngsters after their 3-0 thrashing of the Czech Republic in their opening game of this summer’s FIFA U-17 World Cup in Me-he-co.
With all signs pointing up for this newly post-pubescent group of United States soccer players, they came out in their second game against Uzbekistan and dropped a dud. Final score: USA 1 – Uzbekistan 2. Wow.
Luckily the third and final group match for the United States is against New Zealand tomorrow, with a win assuring a place in the knockout round for the Stars n’ Stripes. That all sounds fine and good, but I’m sure the same confidence would hold if our final game was against someone like, oh I don’t know, Uzbekistan.
